We are still muddling our way through the adjustment of Cub Scouts here in MN. It's different, just like everything else when you move, but Derrick still enjoys it. Kris does too, it's his way to still be a scout by being a leader! This year at the Blue & Gold Banquet Derrick advanced to Senior Webelos! I was a little worried I wouldn't see him because like every other event this year someone was sick, so we had to juggle. We have been seriously hit with the sickies this year so I was happy when this night went smoothly. This pack incorporated the Arrow of Light ceremony into the Blue & Gold Banquet, which was very impressive. I have not been able to witness one before, it also showed Derrick something to look forward to. Scouts always brings something new and Derrick is always ready or the adventure. I even found a great picture of Kris as a scout for Derrick to see. He was amazed by all the badges. It's great they can share this together!
Alexis has danced since she was 4 years old. She's always loved it and had such a natural ability. Just this year she took on the challenge of dancing with a competition team. She had her first competition a couple weeks ago. She was so nervous, but so excited. Their Tribal dance is choreographed to a mix of songs but starts with In the Jungle from the Lion King. It's taken a new level of commitment from both her and us for competition but she shows her love of it every time she steps foot on that floor and we couldn't be happier for her! Her team didn't place this time, but that didn't trip her up. She knows there is always room for improvement and that this is the first of many competitions for her. When I see that passion shining out of her all I can do is smile. Who knows what is out there for her, the sky's the limit! I am a dancer. |
