FIVE? What? Where did the time go?
Lucas I always call you our 'energetic' one! You are the first one up, last one to fall asleep, full of questions and answers. Such a thinker! Some know this story, but we almost didn't have Lucas. We were perfectly happy with our family of 4, until the day I got pregnant when I had an IUD. For 10 long weeks I prayed for the baby to survive, to be healthy. God answered my prayers but not in the way I planned. I sub-sequentially lost that precious baby but had a life altering change of heart and body. We learned how precious life is and how much we really did want more kids!! A larger family filled with craziness, but also with bunches of love and laughter! Shortly after this along came Lucas!! I say this about each and every one of my kids but they are each such a blessing to us and teach us different things. Lucas, well you teach us grace and unending forgiveness. You are hard headed but forgive easily with open arms! You see the abstract and artistry in things, something we try everyday as parents to preserve in you! Thanks you, oh thank you for joining our family!! <3 Oh my baby! As you have approached 3 we have loved watching your personal personality develop! You are rough and tumble but a princess at heart. You are a giver, you give and help wholeheartedly with everything you have. Such a blessing to everyone around you. We can't wait to watch you grow through the years to come and what that tender heart of yours does! Simple Pleasures! Tea for Two! Helping others! Shy at heart. Our Sunshinie Princess! Sweet dreams for years to come!
<3 Always and Forever Mom & Dad xoxo Anyone who knows me knows I like wine and coffee. I think I could live all of life with just those 2 things if that was possible! So, where would a wino go for her birthday, a winery of course! This is the first one we have been to since moving back to MN last summer and we had such a good time. Carlos Creek Winery is just outside Alexandria, MN and such a cute relaxing place. Of course we went during the middle of the week so less people, bonus! It was last minute so we brought the kids along, but they still had a good time. There was a giant chess board for them to play, plus they did a scavenger hunt as we walked around the grounds and won a prize at the end. So momma had fun and kiddos had fun too! My favorites were the Apple and all their Minnesota Nice Wines! Look at that view!
A teenager! I always tell you, 'you have an attitude problem' but all with love. Really you are such an independent young lady with sass! You carry yourself with such confidence and determination, just what a young woman needs. We will always be here for you but know you can handle anything that comes your way! Such a natural at knee boarding! Girls Night Out for her first dinner as a teenager!
Double Digits Big D...Congratulations! From the day you were born you came into this world with a bang! You have amazed me every step of the way. Not only are you intelligent and forward thinking you have an amazing imagination that teaches me new things everyday. You are a blessing in every way I can't wait to watch you grow another 10 years! This was the first year any of my kids have been away from me on their birthday. D did so much fun stuff at scout camp he said, "I got to do ALL my favorite things on my favorite day!" Can't ask for better than that!
Lucas was so excited for his birthday party this year, even more then his actual birthday day. This was the first year he had a big friends party like his big brother and sister. He has been into cars and racing a lot, and what boy isn't. He pretty much carries a hot wheels with him wherever he goes. I didn't get to take a ton of pictures during the action of the party because well I was hosting the activities. We did all things hot wheels... I found a racing jumpsuit for Lucas at Party City, so he was able to look the race car driver part. Everyone got to pick there own race car to race and then take home with them. They also got little race helmets to look the part like Lucas. Who doesn't like to be in charge and decorate their own race car and license plate? Even some of the adults got in on it. Once everyone arrived at the party, and was ready to start having fun, we used Oreo's as wheels and asked the kids to stack their wheels as high as they could without tipping. Most the kids got into it, some just ate the cookies. The record was set by D at 26 wheels high! The hot wheels racing was our main event! Huge shout out to my dad{aka grandpa} who constructed the whole track! It worked phenomenal. We had a little harder time judging who came in first, second, third, and forth. Once we figured that out our computer tech{Kris aka Dad} input everything in a spreadsheet and wham we knew the winners after multiple heats! Lucas and his friend Max had a ton of fun watching and cheering on all the races, some of the girls not so much. Surprisingly, Kourtney's car won overall even though she was napping most of the party and barely picked out her own car. While the racing was going on we had a pit stop play area and play-doh area set up for those that didn't want to watch ALL the races. We wrapped up the party with cupcakes and snacks. I forgot to take a picture of the full snack pit stop but we had chips, popcorn, fruit snack, and drinks. It was fun to try and watch the adults get the drinks out of the childproof gas cans. That was unintentional but did give us a little laugh! Lucas had a fantastic time with all his friends and family! In the end he got a little too into the present opening!
My birthday boy, what can I say...
It feels like just yesterday I was walking and walking about the park to get you to join our family and it was in such a park that I felt a stirring and I knew you would be joining us soon! Maybe that was a precursor to your life because not a day passes that you don't ask to go to the park. Jumping and playing, smiling and sailing, you enjoy it all! While you are our stubborn and hardheaded one you also teach us the most. How to live each day to it's fullest, how to dance in the rain, and how to find adventure in everything we do! You see the dinosaur in the clouds, the glitter in the snow, the wildlife in the bathtub, and the stars under the blankets. Thank you, oh thank you for joining our family! I can't wait to see what that adventurous spirit does each and every moment from here on.
